Project Gampaha

September 2010

Gampaha Sri Siddhartha College is situated in the Western Province of Sri Lanka, in the city of Gampaha.  More than 900 poor children from age group 6 to 17 years are studying in this school.  The two sets of toilets used by both students and teachers were in a completely dilapidated condition, which needed immediate repair/replacement.  See below.

Most of children studying in this school are from very poor families and the school is not provided with much support from the Government and other authorities.
The HAPC – Sri Lanka Branch selected this project, since it was going to benefit more than 900 poor children and also health and sanitation is a primary requirement of children. This project will help prevent the spreading of various diseases among children too.  Below are the latest photographs of the new toilets during the consstruction phase.
